Sanofi-Aventis (SNY) and Genzyme Corp. (GENZ) are both up on a confirmed deal.

French pharmaceutical major Sanofi-Aventis said it has struck a long-awaited deal to buy Genzyme Corp. for $20.1 billion or $74 a share in cash plus a contingent value right.

In addition to that cash payment, every Genzyme shareholder will receive a contingent value right (CVR) for each share they own, entitling the holder to receive additional cash payments if specified milestones are reached.
