Versus is to be renamed the NBC Sports Network early next year; The cable channel's parent company, Comcast Corp.(NASDAQ:CMCSA), took over NBC Universal in January, and NBC Sports' production and programming have already been surfacing on Versus.

The adjustment will take place Jan. 2, the day NBC airs the NHL Winter Classic, allowing for extensive endorsement of the newly named network.

Versus is present in two-thirds of American homes with televisions. The past Outdoor Life Network broadcasts NHL games and the Tour de France, among other sports, and will continue to show more programming in combination with NBC's offerings.

Comcast has a potential upside of 28.4% based on a current price of $23.6 and an average consensus analyst price target of $30.3.
