8-3-2012-Samsung is looking to take some business from Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL). The mobile phone maker announced Friday it's planning on launching a new product in late August, ahead of Apple's new iPhone announcement rumored to be in early September.
The announcement comes as both company are in the middle of a patent infringement trial over smart phones and tablets. Most recently, Apple was denied an immediate victory in the trial after it accused Samsung of releasing documents that they said would taint the jury.
Despite the trial though, Samsung will release their new device on August 29th before the IFA consumer electronics show in Europe. Analysts expect the device to be an update on the Galaxy Note tablet.
